Each fall semester, Meteorology students in my “Introduction to Weather Analysis” course at Penn State University conduct a semester-long forecast verification study as part of the class. Students work in groups, with each group assigned a different city.

WxChallege is a forecasting challenge hosted by the University of Oklahoma in which you forecast temperature, wind, and precip for different cities across the country. You will compete with other students at Universities across the country to see who is the best individual forecaster and the best school as a whole. All students are invited to participate regardless of class standing.

The 2010 Meteorological Satellite Applications Scholarship, a great opportunity for undergraduate students to demonstrate scientific excellence in satellite meteorology. The winner receives a $500 scholarship and a chance to present their work at the 2010 NWA Annual Meeting in Tuscon, AZ in October 2010. The deadline for submission of papers is June 16, 2010.
