Weather Challenge begins January 30th - Register for Meteo 215
This is a reminder that the WxChallenge, a nationwide weather forecasting
competition for students, is starting up on January 30th.
Meteo 215, the class embodying the WxChallenge, is looking for additional
students to develop a strong base for next years group. Because the spring
contest has yet to begin there is no penalty for signing up for Meteo 215 now,
so please consider picking it up, especially those first-year students who may
have dropped in the fall. The department will request a waiver of the $6.00
late add fee.
If you are interested in participating in the contest
during the Spring semester and like any of the following opportunities:
- earning a little extra credit this semester
- developing and sharpening your forecasting techniques and communication
skills
- learning how the math and physics you learn can be applied to real
weather
- having the opportunity to win trophies and compete against other students
and universities
- building your resume and being presented with internship
opportunities
